When you think about night vision, it usually means attaching a separate scope in place of your daylight scope which you are familiar with and have all dialed in. With the PS-22, all you need to do is place it in front of your existing daylight scope and and bingo- you will have night vision capability with all of the controls and settings that you are used to.

Selecting the correct PS-22 Ring Adapter will be a snap if you have a metric ruler and you will be seeing in the dark through your daylight scope in no time. Then, during daylight hours, the PS-22 comes off in a matter of seconds. You will notice that with this application, the PS-22 is mounted upside down. By removing the quick connect and adding the adapter in its place you will be able to mount the 450 Infrared Illuminator to the PS-22 itself instead of on your daylight scope.

The reason that you see only 30mm scopes offered for this direct mounting application is that the bell on the 30mm scope is stationary "Yes" as opposed to the bell that is on 1 inch scopes that can be rotated "No" to adjust for parallax. The stationary bell is mandatory so that the PS-22 will stay aligned properly not to mention that a 30mm scope is going to allow for more light transmission and most 30mm scopes have a side turret that makes it more convenient to adjust parallax and in some cases, side wheels can be attached as an option.

Even though the PS-22, like most night vision devises, will withstand the recoil of a .308 tactical rifle, unfortunately it will not withstand the violent shake/recoil of a spring-piston air rifle- the recoil of a PCP air rifle is no problem.
